How To: Finding Decision Maker's Contact Details

So, how do you go about finding the specific information for these decision makers?

A lot of people think that’s impossible, but it’s not…

I’m not a great fan of the digital world when it comes to communication.

As the famous BT ad in the 1980s would say, “it’s good to talk”.

I fear we’re breeding generations who are losing the ability to converse.

From a communication standpoint, for me, a big question lies over the digital world.

However, the digital world is fantastic as a source of information and the task of securing the details needed to approach and communicate with these influential individuals is relatively easy.

  • Google
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Hunter.io

All of these provide you with a rich source of information and there’s really no excuse in the last 5 years to really not be able to secure the details that you need.

The more specific the better.

For emails, avoid the generic hello@, sales@, admin@ addresses. You will just disappear into an abyss.

The more specific you can be with names, job titles, telephone numbers, mobile numbers the better.

This task is a lot easier than it would have been 10 years ago.

It’s amazing how many people find out someone’s name but fail to find out their surname.

For example, when they’re looking for ‘John’ in ‘Accounts’ but fail to find out John’s surname.

Over the years we’ve secured a lot of success through Walmart, the biggest retailer in the world, that has approximately 2 million employees.

Which means there’s going to be lots of ‘John’s’.

So, forename, surname, designation, department & division is critical.

So, specificity lies at the core of the research that you need to conduct.

If you do that and put the work in, then the task is far easier.

Research, research, research.
